Voltas AC wins prestigious 'National Energy Conservation Award'

Voltas was the proud recipient of the Ministry of Power's 'National Energy Conservation Award’ in the AC category, in recognition of its promotion and sales of energy-efficient appliances. The glittering award ceremony at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan was made especially memorable by the presence of the President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee, who personally conferred the award upon Pradeep Bakshi - President & COO, UPBG.

Presented for the first time in 1991, the award has annually recognised manufacturers who have made systematic, consistent and serious attempts to create awareness about the use of energy-efficient appliances. Since 2010, it has drawn more and more manufacturers of BEE Star-labelled appliances and equipment.

Voltas was the only brand in the 'Star-rated Air Conditioner' category (both split and window ACs) to have been given this award. Voltas was judged to have outperformed all others on two main criteria, namely:

i)   total sale of products in various Star ratings, and the energy savings generated thereby; and

ii)  percentage contribution of 5-Star rated products

This triumph of Voltas ACs arises from the fact that not only has Voltas been the market leader in the Room AC category across the country, but also leads the industry in 5-Star ACs - the most energy efficient subcategory, far ahead of the nearest competitor (as reflected by GFK Nielsen reports).
